Manitoba Motocross Association: Race Report from Shadow Valley Raceway, Morden

Report and Photos by Doug Engstrom

Round Seven of the MMA Spring Provincial Championship Series brought to you by Royal Distributing held at Morden’s Shadow Valley Raceway found itself wrapped up in the festivities of Round three of the CMRC National Series.

Former 85cc hotshot Samuel Morin has been a regular this season in the Junior classes. Morin took second in the Youth B main at Morden.

After missing several rounds while traveling the National circuit, Ami Houde returned to the Ladies class at Shadow Valley. Houde put in a 2-1 day to top the 1-2 rides of Bev Bryce-Leger.

Like Daughter, like Father? Okay that may be a bit backwards but Kim Houde (71) also returned to action after being MIA for several rounds. Houde went 4 for 4 on the day for moto wins, securing the overalls in the Vet Master and 40+ classes.

I didn’t get a memo about an MMA “retro” round but something brought Mark Medock back to racing. Medock picked up a moto win and third overall in the Vet Junior class.

Want to make a race report? Bryton Allison figured out a sure fire recipe, win moto’s riding a 125 two stroke (Hey it’s my report, so I make the rules!). Allison put in a 5-1 ride for second overall in MX-3 Junior and 1-2 finishes gave him the overall win in the MX-2 Junior class.

Another strong ride, taking second overall at Morden has seen Radek Unrau move into third place in the Spring series.

Michaela Hamm made her first appearance of the season in the Little Ladies class going 5-5 for fifth overall.

RTR’s Ryan Millar showed up with a 450 that he had yet to swing a leg over and proceeded to go 1-1 in the MX-1 Intermediate class.

Scott Unrau grabbed the 25+ class overall with 1-3 finishes ahead of the 2-2 day of Earl Reimer.

Andre Peters seems to improve every week in the 65cc 7-9 class. Peters took fourth overall with 4-5 finishes.

James Hogue took second overall in the MX-1 Beginner class and now sits third in points.

Rosanne Marcyniuk finds herself second in points in the ATV Beginner class with one round remaining in the Spring series.

Lyndon Peters had his best day of the season to date taking second overall in the 85cc 7-11 class with a 3-2 day.

Josh Pfrimmer had another day to remember at Morden. Pfrimmer took the overall wins with perfect days in the Youth and Supermini classes. Pfrimmer came out with a pair of second place finishes in the MX-2 Intermediate class after a pair of moto long battles with Spencer Knowles.

Stefan Rohm (111) found the third step on the box in the MX-1 Junior class with 5-2 finishes.

Mark Sexton finished fourth overall in a very tightly contested 85cc 12-16 class.

The MX-2 Beginner class saw Cory Heide grab a top 5 with 6-6 moto scores.

Richard Vanderwerf used 3-4 finishes to take home fourth place hardware in the 40+ B class.

See you at the races…
