Manitoba Motocross Race Report: Moto Park X, Altona

Report and Photos by Doug Engstrom

While mother nature had plenty of folks grumbling, the tireless efforts of the committed volunteers at Altona’s Moto Park X helped take some of the sting out of the cold north wind that blew through town this past weekend. The Moto Park X volunteers put on a full featured race weekend that included a well run open practice on Saturday, as well as pit bike racing to compliment round 2 of the MMA Spring Provincial Championship.

Adam Wiebe grabbed the 50cc 4-6 class overall with a 2 – 1 ride.

Randall Klassen styled his way to the overall in the 40+ B and Vet Junior classes.

Nathan Regier came out on top of an extremely competitive battle at the top of the MX3 Junior class. Regier’s 1 – 3 day was followed by the 4 – 1 finishes of Kevin Schellenberg and the 5 – 2 races of Garrett Graboweski.

Donald Fossay (16) made his first appearance of the season a memorable one. Fossay came away with the 85cc 7-11 class overall. Meanwhile in the 65cc Peewee class Fossay went to war with Jordan Devloo, the two PeeWee pilots traded paint, swapped plastic and in general battled from gate drop to checkered flag in both motos. Fossay saw his 1 – 2 day bested by Devloo’s 2 -1.

Ami Houde continues to prepare for the CMRC Ladies Nationals. Houde went 1 -1 to take the overall on this day.

Viva La Premix! Ian Smith (168) and Garrett Graboweski are keeping the two strokes alive in the MX1 Junior class. Smith’s 2 -1 finishes earned him the overall ahead of Graboweski’s 1 – 4 day.

Westside Honda’s Adam Pfeiffer returned to form in Altona. Pfeiffer took three of four Pro moto’s and both overalls in the MX1 and MX2 Pro class.

The 50cc 7-8 class saw Jaxton Unrau (64) and D.J. Burmey trade moto wins. Unrau took the overall with his victory in the second moto.

Keith Morrow got out front early to take the win in the Youth B main.

Rio Stoesz picked up his first moto win of the season in the 85cc 12-16 class en route to second overall behind Richmond Morin.

Nathan Wright took home the second place hardware in the 65cc B class.

Fresh out of the Junior class, Lindsay Masse is making an immediate impact in the MX1 Intermediate class. Masse put in 1 - 2 rides to take the overall ahead of Chris Plett and Juston Schmidt.

Kelvin Dalke took the overall in the MX2 Beginner class.

After two qualifiers, a LCQ and a main, Braden Senchuk was standing at the top of the pile in the MX2 Junior class.

Johnnie Unrau took both motos and the overall in the 25+ class.

Transcanada Motorsport owner Scott Harland (140) can now join Danny Winistok as the only people to take a 40+ MMA overall from Kim Houde in the past three seasons. Harland’s victory in the second moto gave him the tie breaker for the overall.

Aaron Pfrimmer piloted his Greegscustom.com Suzuki to a pair of podium appearances in with third place rides in both MX2 Pro and the Youth A class.

Possibly the most impressive rider so far early in this MMA season is Josh Pfrimmer, making the jump from 85’s straight to the MX2 Intermediate class, Pfrimmer was blazing fast on his way to the second overall on this day behind Ryan Millar. Pfrimmer also raced the Supermini class immediately after his Intermediate motos and took both motos with runaway victories.

See you at the races…
